Our Story:
The Nove
Voce choir was formed in 2005 by a group of Robin Norman's accomplished voice students who wanted to help the
Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign. That year, they learned one hour of Christmas music which they sang for
several hours at various kettles and raised more than $1000.00 for the Salvation Army.
These young women enjoyed working together so much that they decided to
enter the Prince George Music Festival for fun. Their hard work and dedication paid off, as they were selected to
represent Prince George at the Provincial Festival, where they won Runners Up. In 2007, Nove Voce represented Prince
George again, won Provincials and were honoured to represent British Columbia at the National Music Festival.
Just recently, the choir had the honor of singing at the Official Olympic Torch ceremonies.
The majority of the year is devoted to carolling for community organizations, such as
hospitals, non-profits, farmer's market and Salvation Army Kettle Campaign. Nove Voce
also performs for various functions, community events, theatrical productions, Christmas parties
and more.
This is a merit
based group: there is no paid personnel, and they charge only $50.00 a year in membership fees. The ages range from 15-30,
mostly young adults and University and College students. The choir has evolved to actively promote Canadian music, Canadian
composers and the local community.
